Long time no post! Here we go:

Two decisions regarding the handling of my little series here. While working on ideas for this project I naturally kept thinking about how to continue the story. There are neat ideas popping up when working on the images. Some are worth exploring... others not so much. During the creative process of my most recent continuation of the series I came to the conclusion that I will not continue to restrict myself to a certain release order. In the future I'll sit down and explore this story not once every 5-7 years but decided to create when it feels right. I want to see how this plays out. 

Decision #2 didn't come easy since I'm more of a "show don't tell" guy. However! Some ideas I want to explore are a little too complex to fit in an image. One of the ideas I cached and decided to expand on lead to a point where I felt better having it in written form. My goal is to do several things. Expand the connection to our current main character. Explain the situation and create a mystery mood that leaves enough room for the interested audience to fill in the blanks with own ideas and speculations. I'm not a writer and I'm fully aware of that. I nonetheless hope written parts of the story add as much to the overall picture of the series as the artwork that usually show most of what's happening. Of course the artwork is still the main focus but I don't want to limit myself to only that since the accompanied story snippets to those are intentionally kept short.

Let's see how this plays out for the series. Do I take it too serious? Probably! But some ideas tickle my brain and I just want to share them with whoever ends up as the audience for this. =)

Every now and again I'm running around with an (formerly) expensive camera and try to capture some images with it. Just thought I'd share some of my latest. Some of them do have a quite spooky atmosphere. Feedback welcome!

It's been a while and I took my time with this one. But here we are with a new asset, Overall I was going for a more rocky desert feel for this one. There went quite some time into tuning the appearance of the terrain and its materials. As usual the terrain comes with a collections of masks and colormaps. I'm always having fun playing with the textures.


Design of the terrain happened in Gaea and was refined during the process. Materials and masks were created by using Gaea and Geoglyph2 for World Machine. Working on the textures was a bit tedious but also fun once I found my workflow. Overall I'm happy with this one and hope it can be useful for your projects.

I actually wanted to post this much sooner but... life. Last year I got contacted by Citadelles & Mazenod. They asked if I would like to contribute to a book that covers all the great literature of fantasy and science fiction. Talking about the authors and their influence on all kinds of media. This is at least what I think... the book is in french. I can't read french, unfortunately. This book is so comprehensive and full of illustrations that fit the overall theme so well. May it be traditionally or digitally created. Therefor it's quite a big and heavy book. Also limited to 2000 prints. Let's just say to have two of my pieces in a book like that with all the greats... is humbling and makes me proud. Thanks to everyone involved who made this ego boost possible. So very much appreciated!

Over the past 3 days I did some extra polish to the site. Now I think it's ready to go. Along with it I want to celebrate the new site with a new artwork that will follow soon. Overall the website is completely focused on my digital art.  Creating the site was fun and challenging. Not much CSS knowledge and all that. Now it's time. For some reason I'm a tiny bit excited. Let's go!
